Stem :
The stem is the plant axis that bears shoots, leaves, buds and flowers. Stems get modified based on the requirements of the environment . It can modify to store food, to protect plant from animals and for the storage of food etc.
Stem Type
There are generally three types of stems according to the condition of the land.
(i) Aerial Stems :- When the entire part of the stem of above the ground, such stem is called pneumatic stem, this type of stem has branches, leaves, flowers and fruits.
(ii) Sub - aerial Stems :- When some part of the stem is inside the ground and some part is outside the ground, then such stem is called semi - pneumatic stem.
